A publication developed under the auspices of the Australian Health Ministers Advisory Council (AHMAC) following a consultation process with interested and representative parties.

National Framework for Action on Dementia 2015 - 2019

Dementia has a profound life-changing impact, not only on the person with dementia but their carers, family members and friends.

This publication has been produced following the Australian Health Ministers agreement to recognise dementia as the ninth National Health Priority Area. This was due to the increased prevelance of the disease and the rising incidence of dementia in Australia.

Wide-ranging consultation was made involving people with dementia, their carers, families, peak bodies that represent them, clinicians and service providers.

Its purpose is to guide the development and implementation of actions, plans and policies to reduce the risk of dementia and improve outcomes for people with dementia and their carers.
