Children with sensory processing challenges respond differently to sight, sound, taste, smell and touch. The environment at home, school or in the community can affect their behaviour, social interactions and development.
For example, a child who is undersensitive may enjoy lots of movement and hugging others. Sitting still and concentrating can be a challenge. A child who is oversensitive can find it hard to go to busy, brightly-lit places. They may want to avoid noisy activities and sounds.
This workshop aims to help parents understand their child’s sensory needs and explore strategies that can help with sensory regulation.
Come along to explore:
- The three levels of support coordination available and criteria
- How to include support coordination in your NDIS plan
- How to create a sensory sensitive environment
- Questions to ask for making an informed decision when choosing a provider
